Deep within acres of green orchards in Thurgau, a place famed for its fruit production, RAUSCH has discovered the force of a natural source of plant-based power: the Swiss apple. This local treasure is the crowning glory of our new anti-pollution line with Swiss apple that provides intensive cleansing for hair and scalp and protection from environmental particles. But why apples – and why do they make this line so special?
RAUSCH extracts – inspired by nature
RAUSCH is driven by a passion for putting the true essence of nature in all our products. Our formulas, packed with the herbal extracts we develop in-house, are the fruit of centuries of knowledge and a deep bond with nature. Each product reflects our aim to provide hair and body care while respecting and protecting the environment. Sustainable treatment of natural resources is the core of our philosophy.
This philosophy is also the basis for developing our innovative anti-pollution line with Swiss apple. It harnesses one natural ingredient in particular: the Swiss apple, grown in the green orchards of Thurgau, the region RAUSCH calls home. This apple represents local quality and our bond with nature. The young apple extract from the Ladina apple variety lends its natural freshness to our new line. This powerful little fruit is packed with vitamin C, iron, potassium and secondary plant substances. But where does it come from?
Local roots – eco-friendly farming
Our choice of apple supplier was no accident. It was a conscious choice, as we wished to use locally-grown apples. Thoughts quickly turned to the Henauerhof, a picturesque organic farm in Kesswil on Lake Constance that combines traditional farming with a modern approach to quality and sustainability. Known for its extensive and varied fruit farming, the farm specialises in cultivating premium-quality apples. Accordingly, both sides were delighted when Roman Henauer agreed to supply RAUSCH with young apples.
The Henauer family puts plenty of dedication and a deep understanding of nature into running their orchards. In addition to work done carefully by hand and the organic approach, this makes the Henauerhof a more than worthy partner for obtaining first-class natural ingredients that are essential for to RAUSCH products.
How it all gets made: from nature to hair products
The route from the apple tree to the plant extract is a fascinating journey that begins deep in the heart of Thurgau. With around 200 apple varieties, 210,000 standard apple trees and 1,600 hectares of fruit crops, the canton is the perfect stage for the star of our show: the robust young apple from the Ladina variety.
The young apples that would take too much energy from the apple tree are picked in June. This is part of a natural thinning process that’s necessary to ensure the tree can focus its energies on growing the highest-quality fruit. The young apples picked at this stage are already packed with goodness and contain all the valuable ingredients of a mature apple in highly concentrated form.
These apples usually end up on the ground, unused. At RAUSCH, they’re used in a sustainable, sensible way. Once the applies have been dried, we gently and carefully extract the precious ingredients on our premises in Kreuzlingen to obtain our apple extract.
Innovation in hair care
RAUSCH is offering innovative hair care products with the introduction of the anti-pollution line with Swiss apple. The line comprises a shampoo for daily cleansing, an exfoliating shampoo for intensive weekly cleansing and a protective spray for in-between. It’s the fruit of our commitment to protecting the hair and scalp from harmful environmental particles. With the specially developed plant extracts from young Swiss apples and barley grass, the existing nettle extract and an innovative active anti-pollution ingredient, this line offers deep cleansing, protection against other sources of strain and intensive nourishment all in one.
This process – from harvest to hair care – is a model example of RAUSCH’s commitment to sustainability and innovation: by using young apples that would otherwise to go waste, we’re practising upcycling at the highest level.
