Balm | What's that?
Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) originated in southern Europe and gets its name from its lemony smell. In the Middle Ages, it was a requirement for monks to grow this essential plant in their monastery gardens.
Lemon balm has a calming, relaxing, mood-boosting, antispasmodic, gently anti-inflammatory and diaphoretic effect. It can be consumed as a tea or a tincture, or applied externally in a bath or as a poultice. Lemon balm also helps with dry and blemished skin. It soothes the scalp and gives new life to dull, greasy hair.
